I Can See Clearly Now: Fasting for Joint Empathy

Have you ever seen satellite images of the Earth after a hurricane?  The clarity is stunning.

It’s as if pollution and smog took the day off. The blues and greens of our oceans are hyper-vibrant

Back down here at street level you walk outside and see a sky that’s the kind of blue they use for tropical vacation destination photos.

There’s a sense of renewal. Of survival.  The crisp fresh air is seemingly cleaner than anything you can get from one of those fancy air purifiers.

If you’re like me, you might even start singing that great song by Jimmy Cliff, “I can see clearly now- the rain is gone… It’s gonna be a bright and sunshiny day”

Anywho, this is what your body, mind, and soul can experience after fasting for 7 days.

Your mental clarity is heightened to the point where you literally re-program your DNA’s dependence on constant and unnecessarily high levels of food consumption.  Your body actually says “thank you” for giving the digestive system a break and in turn rewards you by repairing damaged cells and shedding upwards of 20 pounds of visceral fat, water weight, and inflammatory toxins.

I don’t know if joint empathy is a real thing, but we should all try it some time.  It’s easy.  Just pick up something heavy (like a 25 pound barbell weight) and imagine having to support that for the entire day.)  You’d be pretty exhausted (and probably a little agitated) as well.

Not only is fasting an excellent way to recalibrate your over-all health status and naturally strengthen your immune system, it’s a wonderful way to remind yourself that much of what you think is impossible and crazy is actually quite the opposite.

With a figurative saw that’s being re-sharpened by deliberate discipline and relentless consistency, you move into the post-fast days ahead with a heightened sense of awareness and gratitude.

No, life is not always easy and it’s not always a sunshiny day, but when you develop a strategy to recover from anything and re-write physics by deliberately creating a calm AFTER the storm, your outlook on the world in which we live can be altered dramatically

If fasting or time restricted feeding is something you’d like to learn more about, consult with your doctor and seek out a qualified wellness professional to help determine if you’re an eligible candidate.

Onwards and upwards,

Cheers, -m
