Keep Your Feet on the Ground and Keep Reaching for the Stars.”
There’s a saying that always stuck with me- courtesy of the legendary Casey Kasem and American Top 40: “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”
Sometimes those words felt more like a direct order than a classic sign-off.
I never figured out if Casey was was promoting pragmatism or pollyanna. Did he want us to hope for the best but prepare for the worst? Was it cautious optimism? I still don’t know. … but what I do know is that by 9 years old I became an expert at releasing the the pause button to record my favorite songs on the countdown.
Whether you’re going all-in on a ten-year-old dream or you’re just executing a perfectly-timed jump for a sunset silhouette frisbee toss… don’t hesitate.
Don’t play it safe.
Take the leap.
Go for it with everything you’ve got and channel your inner Michael Jordan from the foul line.
The view from above is always better and you just might catch more than you expected.
Shout out to Dr. Jill (and Casey) for reminding me that hope isn’t just about getting what you want, it’s about realizing who you are and everything you’re capable of.
Onwards and upwards…
Cheers, -m
